These are ordinary clothes with zippers positioned where treatment needs to reach. Below is where each kind of access sits, and which opening reaches it. If your situation is not listed, the general answer is that the zipper can be opened anywhere along its track.

Hemodialysis through an AV fistula or AV graft
An arteriovenous fistula is a surgical connection between an artery and a vein, usually in the forearm or the upper arm. An AV graft does the same thing with a length of synthetic tubing, often as a loop in the forearm or a straight graft in the upper arm. In in-center hemodialysis, two needles are placed into the fistula or graft at the start of each session and stay in for the run.
What that needs from clothing: bare skin over the access, from before cannulation until the needles come out and the sites are held, with the arm resting where the staff can see it for the whole session. Sites are rotated along the length of the access, so the exposed area is not the same every time.
How the garment provides it: the sleeve zipper opens at the forearm, the inner elbow, or the upper arm, whichever the access is, and stays open for the session. The rest of the garment stays closed. On the wrist-to-wrist styles, the same garment covers a left-arm access and a right-arm access, so it still fits if your access changes side.
A chest port, or a tunneled dialysis catheter
An implanted port sits under the skin below the collarbone, usually on the upper chest, and is accessed with a needle through the skin. A tunneled central venous catheter exits the chest and has external lumens that are connected directly.
What that needs from clothing: an opening on the upper chest, large enough to access and dress the site, without pulling a shirt up over the head or lifting the arms in a way that tugs on the lines.
How the garment provides it: on the wrist-to-wrist styles, separate two pulls at the chest and a window opens across the upper chest, then closes again afterwards. On the t-shirt, the zipper runs sleeve hem to sleeve hem straight across the chest and does the same thing. The two hoodies with wrist-to-chest sleeve zippers reach the upper chest and the front of the shoulder from the sleeve side, and they also have a full front zipper.
A PICC line
A peripherally inserted central catheter enters a vein in the upper arm, usually just above the inner elbow, and the external part is secured to the arm under a dressing. It stays in place between treatments.
What that needs from clothing: the upper inner arm has to be reachable for connection, flushing and dressing changes, and the sleeve must go on and off without catching on the external line or the dressing.
How the garment provides it: the sleeve zipper opens over the upper arm and inner elbow, so the arm is reached by opening the sleeve rather than by threading the arm and the line through it.
Chemotherapy and other IV infusion
Infusion is given through a peripheral IV in the hand or forearm, or through a port or PICC line. Sessions run from under an hour to most of a day, seated, in rooms that are often cold.
What that needs from clothing: the infusion site reachable and visible for the whole session, the line free to run to the pump, and enough warmth to sit still for hours.
How the garment provides it: open the section over the site and leave it open. The line runs out of the opening. The rest of the garment stays closed, which is the reason the range is mostly sweatshirts and fleece rather than gowns.
Peritoneal dialysis
Peritoneal dialysis uses a catheter that exits the abdomen. Exchanges are done at home, several times a day or overnight on a cycler, by connecting to that abdominal catheter.
What that needs from clothing: access to the abdomen at the exit site, and a top that does not sit tight over the catheter or the dressing between exchanges.
Be straight about the fit here. These garments open at the arms and the upper chest. None of them opens at the abdomen, so they do not give you access to a PD exit site. What they do offer for peritoneal dialysis is a relaxed, oversized cut that is not tight over the abdomen, and warmth during an exchange. If you need an opening at the exit site itself, this range does not have it.
Blood pressure monitoring
Blood pressure is taken repeatedly during a hemodialysis session, and the cuff goes on the arm without the access, since a cuff is not put on a fistula or graft arm.
What that needs from clothing: one arm exposed for the access, and the other arm reachable for the cuff, at the same time.
How the garment provides it: on the wrist-to-wrist styles, two openings can be held at once, so the access arm and the cuff arm can both be open. On the wrist-to-chest styles, the two sleeve zippers are independent, so the same thing holds.
Care partners and clinical staff
Every opening on these garments is on the outside and is worked with two pulls. There is nothing to unfasten behind the back, and the wearer does not have to stand up, raise their arms, or remove anything for the opening to be made or closed. That matters when the wearer is mid-session, or when someone else is helping them dress.
What these are not
They are not medical devices. They are not sterile. They do not replace any part of access care, dressing, or clinical routine, and nothing about them is claimed to change a clinical outcome. They are clothes that open where treatment happens.
