Clothing you do not have to take off to get treated

Outdoor Dialysis makes sweatshirts, hoodies, a wearable blanket, and a t-shirt with zippers built into the sleeves and across the chest. Instead of removing your top or rolling a sleeve past a fistula, you open a zipper exactly where the needle, line, or port goes. Everything else stays covered and warm. The garments are designed around the access points used in hemodialysis, chemotherapy infusion, port and tunneled catheter care, and PICC line care. They are ordinary clothes to look at, sized S to 3XL in a relaxed unisex fit.

Frequently asked questions

What is the return policy?

Unworn, unwashed items in original condition can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund, and we pay the return shipping. Start a return through the contact form with your order number and we will email you a prepaid label.

How long does delivery take?

Orders ship from US fulfillment centers, and standard delivery is typically 3 to 5 business days after the order is placed. You get a tracking number by email when it ships.

Is it warm enough for a cold clinic?

The sherpa fleece hoodie and sherpa fleece crewneck are the warmest garments in the range, and are the ones to choose if you sit still for hours in a cold room. The 95% cotton styles are mid-weight and comparable to a normal sweatshirt. The wearable blanket is designed specifically for a treatment chair, since it drapes over your lap and arms.

Does the zipper touch my fistula?

The opening is made by separating two pulls at the point you choose, so the zipper hardware sits to the side of the opening rather than across it. Where the track sits relative to your own access depends on your arm, so it is worth trying the garment on before a treatment day rather than in the chair. If a zipper near an access site is a concern for you, ask your dialysis nurse.

Is it machine washable?

Yes, everything in the range is machine washable, including the wearable blanket. Close every zipper first, turn the garment inside out, wash cold and tumble dry low or hang dry. Skip fabric softener, especially on the fleece styles.

Who are these made for?

People on hemodialysis with an AV fistula or graft in the arm. People with a chest port or tunneled catheter for chemotherapy or dialysis. People with a PICC line. Anyone who sits through infusions in a cold room and would rather not undress to be treated. These are ordinary clothes with zippers positioned where treatment needs to reach, and nothing here is medical advice.
